The class fulfills the first-year writing seminar requirement and is also a level studio art class that may be counted toward a major in Studio Art, Art History, or Media Arts and Sciences. As I developed the iteration of the course that I am currently teaching, I embraced the design challenge of meeting the expectations of the Writing Program and the Art Department while adapting the class to be taught with an emphasis on the book arts. I hope that this class will serve as a useful example for combining the teaching of writing and the book arts.
